During the process of mixing Cyanotype and Van Dyke Brown chemistries together, the artist relates their chemical interactions to their own relationships and interactions in life. Sometimes they worked beautifully together and other times one overpowered the other. To her, this signified the past conflicts in her life and her desire to control the seemingly uncontrollable. During practice of Philosophical Alchemy, the more one practices purification and self-awareness, the clearer one's mind and direction become. In Photographic Alchemy, practice does not create perfection but greater understanding and control over the process of making art.
