En Garde Caligula is a blatantly symbolic rendering of the tyrannical emperor Caligula with the mythical sword of Excalibur left in stone, not barring any responsibility representing the abuse of power. Because of this historically repeating perspective on power the vultures lay await above implying the future destruction awaiting. This painting was produced during the residency at the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation.
