FLUIDITY #7
Sofia Echa
Created 2015. Acrylic on Metal. Sofia Echa was born in 1992 in Vladivostok, Russia and settled in New York City in 2013 to continue her pursuit of a career in art after she received a bachelor degree in Economics and Japanese studies at Federal University of Vladivostok, Russia.
Sofia features the reflective quality of water on canvas and metal. Cloud-like tufts of waves serve as a creamy, soothing caress atop an angular, hard base. Her narrowly-defined and powerful vision is an analogy of life as a constant interplay of opposing “feminine” and “masculine” notions: light and dark, soft and hard, fluid and rigid. These elements work together and are continuously recalibrating their ratios in order to reach equilibrium, or “enlightenment” for each given moment.
