Quilts tell stories, as do these pieces that originate from remnants of my life. Layered with strong linear narratives, they reference wall-hanging tapestries and traditional storytelling. As such, they tell the story of particular phrases I heard as a child, which powerfully impressed me at the time and still resonate. I remember this phrase from childhood. It was very powerful to me, but not always true. This was created at my studio at the Goat Farm Arts Center.

Linda Mitchell, an Atlanta native, earned MFAs in both Painting and Sculpture from GSU. Her exhibitions span 30+ years. Her work has been featured in 12 solo museum exhibitions around the country. Awards include 2010 Artist Grant from the City of Atlanta Cultural Affairs.
