Created 2012. Acrylic on wood. The "On the Map" project represents a personal view of immigration and is a graphic perspective of what I consider to be a common denominator of our American identity. Artist’s self-portrait is representative of a first generation immigrant, a newcomer faced with multiple and converging experiences such as the process of cultural, legal, economic, and linguistic assimilation, as well as other hurdles newcomers have to overcome in their new home.
