RELIGION OF TIME

Vanessa Stefanova

Created in 2020.

This painting was inspired by a little tangent Vanessa went on after being asked the question “What's your biggest weakness” when she put herself up for an opportunity. Vanessa ended up saying something along the lines of “I don't get why people get so bothered when you're late or bad with time.. It's like they've chosen to live their life strictly to a religion of time and expect everyone else to do the same in dictatorship. I don't live my life by that religion and that should be acceptable”.

So this is Vanessa's painting to represent it. The statue is a head, just a female, made of sand emerging from the ground and cut off as if it's thoughts are purely time. The clock has no order, the numbers float away, turning into yellow birds. The water also represents the constant flowing where you'll (in general) never get a grip.
