"To take the idea of a classic portrait and give it a modern twist, but still have a classic feel was a real feat. By giving it a female name and sense it just amplifies the empathetic feel from her posture and eye. She has such a sensitive demeanor over all and this something that I love about horses in general. No matter how big or regal they are they always have a sensitive vibe. Love it. This line drawing was masked off and then I mixed a red, with acrylic gouache, to match the red metallic leaf that I used. This gives the negative space a layered feel. The horse is a blend of grays and white for texture as well and setting the shadows and contours. The resolution work with the graphite pencil really gives this a sumptuous feeling that really promotes the sensitive vibe over all."
