“Shamanic Painting 02” is the brightest and boldest piece in the series and the artist’s personal favorite. It oozes with chaos and electricity, a nod to the street art of Brooklyn, New York where the artist spent her formative years studying and making art.

Critelli’s time-consuming process involves liquefying acrylic paint, molding it into 3-dimensional pieces, and interweaving hundreds of dried pieces onto a canvas wet with paint. Think Jackson Pollock meets Basquiat -- or Nickelodeon -- as the Shamanic Paintings’ tactile splatter is a nostalgic callback to 1990s youth culture.
