In his series 'Flesh and Spirit', artist Skee Goedhart uses highly detailed, iconic imagery to bring awareness and dignity to the sacrifice of commercially bred animals. While seen as commodity by their owners and food by consumers we are asked to explore the notion that they too are living beings, capable of emotion, love and feeling. The artist's intent is not to evoke guilt, but merely allow the viewer to gain an understanding and even appreciation for their everyday sources of food.
