This piece was originally an oil painting done sometime around 1998 and sold to a friend. Since he wouldn’t sell it back, Vales contemplated if he could re-do that piece (never a good idea, paintings re-done never capture the same magic). Many years later, Vales finally revisited Style, this time, digitally. With mouse in hand and just a rudimentary knowledge of Photoshop he set about clicking and clicking away, ultimately recreating not the actual original painting but something entirely different! Similar enough that the resemblance is obvious, but completely different.
