"This is a painting very different to Vanessa's others, she made it during her lockdown challenge and it became super clear I'd been repeating the same setting in each different painting so Vanessa decided that since she's making different types of paintings she should create a very 2D style one as well. At the time Vanessa had just started learning about illusions and this includes one where geometric shapes sit at a particular spot to create the illusion that there's another image. Here people are convinced there's a vase, yet there's no actual vase being painted.

Vanessa also threw in her surrealist flare and painted the flowers different colours to their natural colour, similar to my fruit bowl painting. She mentions she needed to have a painting of a vase of flowers in my portfolio.
